About WD 2.5" Laptop HDD
The Scorpio Blue and Scorpio Black names were replaced by WD Blue and WD Black around 2013. The thin 7mm WD10SPZX and WD20SPZX are common in laptops and consoles. Because the same mechanisms appear inside portable drives, we often see these drives after a portable has been dropped.

Frequently asked questions
My laptop says no boot device. Is the data gone?
Not necessarily. It can be a failing drive or corrupted boot area. Stop restarting it and let us image the drive.
Can you recover data from a drive taken out of a WD My Passport?
Most My Passport drives have a USB board with built-in encryption, so they are recovered differently. See our WD external drives page.
