About Seagate External & Portable Drives
Seagate’s portable drives use 2.5-inch mechanisms inside small cases, and some models have the USB socket built straight onto the drive’s own circuit board rather than a separate adapter. That means a broken USB port can’t simply be fixed by moving the drive to another enclosure – the board needs repair or a specialist adapter.

Frequently asked questions
Can I take the drive out of the case and connect it directly?
Not on models with a built-in USB board. Doing so can damage the board. Send the complete drive.
Is the data encrypted?
Only if you set a password with Seagate’s security software. In that case we need the password to read it.
What happens after I send the drive in?
We carry out a professional evaluation (£94.80), then send you a fixed quote and a list of recoverable files before any recovery work is charged.
