Samsung 840, 850, 860 and 870 SATA SSD data recovery

Samsung’s EVO, PRO and QVO SATA SSDs are among the best-selling drives ever made. When one disappears, locks up or reports errors, we recover the data at controller level.

About Samsung SATA SSD (840–870)

The 840 EVO (2013) became known for slowing down when reading older data until Samsung released firmware fixes, and some 870 EVO batches were reported to develop read errors after a few years in service. QVO models use QLC flash, which stores more data per cell and is more sensitive to wear. Keeping firmware updated matters, but once a drive has failed, updating it can make recovery harder.

Frequently asked questions

Should I update the firmware on my failing 870 EVO?

Not once it is showing errors. Firmware updates on a failing SSD can make recovery harder. Image the data first.

Can deleted files be recovered from a Samsung SSD?

Usually not, because TRIM clears deleted blocks. Failure recovery is a different story and often succeeds.

What happens after I send the drive in?

We carry out a professional evaluation (£94.80), then send you a fixed quote and a list of recoverable files before any recovery work is charged.
