About the Surface Laptop
From the Surface Laptop 3 onwards the SSD is a removable M.2 module, which makes data recovery and upgrades much easier. Memory is soldered on every model.
The Surface Laptop 1 and 2 are glued together and have soldered storage, so they need more careful work.

Can you recover data from a laptop with BitLocker on?
Yes, as long as you can give us the BitLocker recovery key. Business keys are usually stored in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory or your Microsoft account.
Can a Surface Laptop SSD be upgraded?
On the Surface Laptop 3 and later, yes: the SSD is a removable M.2 2230 module.
How do I find which Surface I have?
Open the Surface app or Settings > System > About. The model is also printed under the kickstand or underneath.
