About LaCie Rugged & Portable
LaCie has been part of Seagate since 2014, so most Rugged drives contain Seagate 2.5-inch mechanisms or SSDs. The rubber bumper protects against everyday knocks, but a fall while the drive is spinning can still damage the heads. Rugged RAID models hold two drives that must be recovered together.

Frequently asked questions
My Rugged was dropped while copying footage. What should I do?
Stop using it straight away. Clicking after a drop means head damage, which needs clean-room work.
Do you need both drives from a Rugged RAID?
Yes. Send the whole unit; we image both drives and rebuild the RAID.
What happens after I send the drive in?
