About Kingston SATA SSD (V300–KC600)

The SSDNow V300 was criticised in 2014 when later production changed to slower flash, and the budget A400 has since become a mass-market drive fitted in huge numbers of laptops. Like most DRAM-less budget drives, the A400 can fail suddenly after power problems, usually leaving the data intact on the flash.

Frequently asked questions

My A400 suddenly vanished. Can you recover it?

Usually yes. Sudden disappearance is typically a controller fault, and the flash is often readable.

Is the KC600 encrypted?

It supports self-encrypting features, but data is only locked if encryption was set up. We check at evaluation.

What happens after I send the drive in?

We carry out a professional evaluation (£94.80), then send you a fixed quote and a list of recoverable files before any recovery work is charged.

Talk to an engineer

Describe the problem and the make and model if you know it. We will reply with a price and the fastest way to get it fixed, usually the same working day.
