HGST Deskstar and Travelstar drive recovery
HGST and Hitachi Deskstar and Travelstar drives still turn up in older PCs, laptops and NAS units. We recover them from mechanical and firmware failures.
About HGST Deskstar & Travelstar
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies became part of Western Digital in 2012, and the HGST name was phased out by 2018. Deskstar NAS drives built a strong reliability record, while Travelstar 2.5-inch drives were fitted widely in business laptops. Parts for these older drives are increasingly scarce, which is where our donor stock helps.

Frequently asked questions
Can you still get parts for a 2012 Hitachi drive?
Usually. We keep donor parts for common Deskstar and Travelstar families and source the rest.
Is HGST the same as Hitachi?
Yes. HGST was Hitachi’s storage business, later owned by Western Digital.
What happens after I send the drive in?
We carry out a professional evaluation (£94.80), then send you a fixed quote and a list of recoverable files before any recovery work is charged.
Talk to an engineer
Describe the problem and the make and model if you know it. We will reply with a price and the fastest way to get it fixed, usually the same working day.
